Ronald H. Hirz, M.D., M.S.

Experience in Endocrinology and Metabolism

Dr. Hirz earned his medical degree, M.D. at the University of Chicago School of Medicine.

1972 Internship in Straight Medicine at Georgetown University Hospital, Washington, DC.

1969 He earned a masters degree in Organic Chemistry at the University of Chicago. He was a Research Fellow at the NHI, National Heart Institute, NIH, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD., and at the University of Chicago, where he did research on the physical structure of serum lipoproteins, HDL and LDL.

1964 Research in Endocrinology in the Division of Mathematical Biology on the kinetics of thyroxine between intracellular and extracellular pools

1966-69Post-doctoral Fellow, Departments of Chemistry and Internal Medicine at the University of Chicago. "The physico-chemical structure of HDL (high density lipoproteins) and LDL (low density lipoproteins). Co-aurhored 7 research journal articles. including Proceedings of the National Acad. Sciences, Nature, etc.

1968 Gordon Research Conference on Lipoproteins, Meriden, NH

1969-71 Research Associate at the National Institutes of Health, NCI, National Heart Institute. "The physico-chemical structure of HDL (high density lipoproteins) and LDL (low density lipoproteins). Coauthored one research journal article.

1962 Research Assistant, National Cancer Institute, Division of Endocrinology, William O'Dell, M.D., Research Director. Development of a bioassy for the melanocyte stimulating hormone activity of various ACTH (adrenocorticotrophic hormone) preparations, using the webbed feet melanocyte dispersion scale of hypophysectomized frogs.

1963 Research Assistant,Dept. of Pharmacology at George Washington University, Washington, DC. "The Effect of Tri-iodothyronine on the metabolism of alcohol in the rat and the rabbit.
